Head of Architecture & CTO, Europe
Joined as Head of Architecture in October 2024 and appointed Head of Architecture and CTO in February 2026. Leads Architecture and the CTO and platform-engineering function for Vanguard's European business, spanning UK Personal Investing and European Financial Adviser Services.

First technical hire outside the CTO and eighth employee. Solutions Architect (Director) from January 2021; Managing Director and Head of Cloud Engineering from May 2022. Built the platform, security posture and engineering organisation from the ground up as the company scaled to 60+ engineers across Ireland, the UK and India.

Director of Architecture
Led a fifteen-person team building the cloud-native event-driven platform behind the digital experience ecosystem, alongside a developer learning dojo and cloud centre of excellence.

- Fidsafe re-architected to serve 10 million+ users cost-effectively using twelve-factor principles.
- CD pipelines automating operations, security and compliance checks; releases moved from monthly to daily, cutting over $400k in year one.
- Java/Spring REST monolith migrated to serverless Node.js microservices on API Gateway, Lambda and SQS.
Senior Software Engineer (Labs)
Innovation labs engineer running 8 to 12 week proofs of concept to find the investments that would carry the business forward.

- Designed and built XTRAC Connect, a Java integration engine native on AWS, foundation of the digitisation-of-services strategy.
- Automated AWS environment creation so a single engineer could operate the platform.
- Digitised a 28-page pensions PDF into a smart digital journey, cutting processing from over a week to under a day.
Software Engineer → Senior Software Engineer
Product engineering for fixed-income research systems, with a habit of automating the surrounding operational work.

- Modernised the decade-old research publishing and retrieval system (.NET, WPF, MVVM).
- Financial reporting tool that cut research-report assembly from about a week to minutes.
- Ruby on Rails support app that moved common support tasks to first-line support.
Associate Software Engineer
Graduate-entry engineering role following four months of intensive training.
